Hiking
Whether you want to do an easy hike on the rim trail along the Canyon or hike into the Canyon there are options for you. Both are amazingly beautiful and something you should not miss. The Rim Trail stretches from the South Kaibab Trailhead west to Hermit’s Rest, approximately 13 miles. Most of the trail is paved with a trail condition of flat to slight inclines and some sections are accessible. You can access the trail from any viewpoint along the way in Grand Canyon Village or along Hermit Road.
The two main corridor trails leading to the inner canyon are the Bright Angel Trail and the South Kaibab Trail. Both are maintained and go from the canyon rim to the bottom.
Grand Canyon National Park, South Rim Visitors Center
The outside exhibits at the Visitors Center discuss Park activities and attractions, hiking the free shuttle bus system and Park Ranger programs. The inside exhibits include displays of historic artifacts and a large video-enabled relief map. While at the Visitors Center be sure to watch Grand Canyon: A Journey of Wonder, a 20 minute journey through the National Park. Showings are on the hour and half hour.

Biking
Biking in Grand Canyon National Park or biking to go between Tusayan and the National Park is another great way to enjoy and see the beauty of our outdoors and the Canyon. You can choose to bring your own bikes or rent once you are here.
The Grand Canyon Greenway Trail starts in Tusayan behind the IMAX Theater and will take you all the way to the Visitor Center in Grand Canyon National Park. The route, 13.1 miles round trip, is paved almost all the way and works for all skill levels with a gentle incline and plenty of shade. No water is available on this trail, so be sure to take enough.

Grand Canyon Dark Skies
Grand Canyon National Park was certified as an International Dark Sky Park in 2019 is one of the best places in the world to enjoy pristine night sky star gazing due to its location away from major cities.
The Grand Canyon Star Party event will be June 1-8, 2024. This annual event is free and open to the public with outdoor evening events located within the National Park near the visitor center.
The National Park Service offers Ranger Programs year-round and when viewing is at its best, they will include evening Ranger programs on the Night Skies. There is also an Astronomer in Residence Program offered by the NPS.
Another amazing viewing in our dark skies are meteor showers which occur several times a year.
Grand Canyon Visitor Center – IMAX Theater (Within Walking Distance)
