Is there a Red Feather Lodge shuttle to the park?
The hotel does not provide shuttle service to the Park, but within a short walking distance you can hop on the National Park Shuttle. This service is only available seasonally, late May through Labor Day weekend. Make sure to buy your Grand Canyon National Park Pass at the hotel front desk before getting on the shuttle.
What shuttles should we take to get to the Park?
The National Park Shuttle (purple route) operates from the Town of Tusayan. The bus makes 4 stops and then returns to the National Park Visitor Center located within Grand Canyon National Park. You will need to show a valid National Park Pass to board the bus. The shuttle from the Grand Canyon to Tusayan is seasonal (late May through Labor Day weekend).

What hiking trails do we recommend?
Depending on the degree of difficulty, the Rim Trail is accessible to all and is pet friendly. South Kaibab Trail for the views, but no water or shade. The Greenway Trail takes you from Tusayan to the National Park Visitor Center, it’s paved most of the way, with lots of shade, but no water.
Where can we park inside the park?
The National Park Visitor Center has parking, and there are overflow lots close by. I like lot A as an overflow lot at the Park Headquarters. You can walk north to the rim, then decide if you want to continue walk east or west. Either direction will result in easy shuttle access to get back to your car if you don’t want to do the return walk. We recommend taking a picture of the parking lot sign so you remember where you parked.
When is the park open?
The park is open all year long, unless severe weather has the roads closed.
Distance to the Grand Canyon from our lodge?
We are one mile from the South Rim park entrance. Seven miles from the rim.

Can we get a view of the Grand Canyon from the hotel?
The Town of Tusayan is 1 mile from the Grand Canyon Park Entrance and 7 miles from the rim, so there is no view of the Grand Canyon from the hotel.
What does parking look like in the National Park?
Parking in the park at peak times (March-April and September-October) can be difficult, get into the park before 10:00 am or after 4:00 pm and there should be parking available at the National Park Visitor’s Center or one of the overflow lots.

Yavapai Point Geology Museum - quick easy access.

The employees of the Red Feather Lodge are provided employee housing in Tusayan and Valle.
Can we walk to the Grand Canyon?
Yes you can. Walking on the Greenway Trail, is approximately 7 miles to the rim.
Is this hotel Native American owned?
No, we are operated by the original owner’s family.
When is it a good time to go into the park?
Sunrise is usually not as busy as sunsets. We recommend entering the Park before 9:00 am and after 2:00 pm.

No, we are located 1 mile from the entrance and 7 miles from the first viewpoint.
What does Tusayan mean?
Tusayan is a name of Native American origin, specifically from the Hopi tribe, which is part of the larger Puebloan group of tribes. The exact meaning of "Tusayan" is not entirely clear, but it is believed to refer to a specific type of village or settlement. It could be derived from the Hopi word Tuu-sayan, which translates roughly to "the place of the water" or "the village near the water," though interpretations can vary.

What’s the best time of year to visit?
We recommend June, July, and August, the entrance lines are usually not as long. The temperatures during the summer months are 85 - 90 degrees during the day, and 60 - 70 degrees in the evenings, making for great dark sky viewing. The room rates are typically lower from peak season prices.
Do I get stuck in the entrance line even if I have a pass already?
Yes. However, the Park Service may have a lane open for those that are current pass holders.

Powell Point, Yaki Point, Grandview Point, Navajo Point, Pima Point, Yavapai Point and Lipan Point. Ask us about Papago Point which is not on the map.
